edit: here’s a work-in-progress version. [your first sound device - Google Docs](https://docs.google.com/document/d/188boZ5ON3Tq7fNc7pZL5WzJ6xYhq4tNfrOmrdqDlq70/edit?usp=sharing)

someone on Discord wanted me to make an outline before a tutorial is made for patching in Ksoloti patcher, so here’s my outline:

your first sound device (outline):
getting started with the Ksoloti patcher

we assume you know a bit about making electronic music
we also assume you have a Ksoloti (Core, Gills, Big Genes) or an Axoloti board or an Akso board
and we assume you have installed the Ksoloti patcher

intro:

- connecting Ksoloti, loading demo/tutorial patches
  - patch window & console window

- what the hell is a ‘patch’? your first patch
  - exploring the object library
  - wire types (boolean, string, audio, integers, controls)
  - execution order
  - Live vs Edit Mode
  - controls

- physical controls
- second patch. choose what to make:
  - an audio effect unit (easiest to understand)
  - a synth, monophonic (1 note at a time) or polyphonic (many notes)
  - a drum machine (sample-based and/or synth-based drums, with sequencer)

audio effect:

- checking audio input works (audio input → audio output)
- adding audio effects

synth:

- making sounds with oscillator, envelope, and filters
- add MIDI keyboard control to make a mono synth
- add MIDI pitch bend and mod wheel control
- making the synth polyphonic

drum machine:

- sample upload and playback
- quick guide to drum synthesis
- adding MIDI keyboard control
- adding sequencer with BPM control

outro:

- MIDI out & CV
- OLED display
- other user guides & learning resources
- third patch: learn from YouTube sound design tutorials by yourself
