1.1.0 start.bin failure

I’ve just replaced my computer, and so grabbed the latest package during setup. Previously I was on 1.0.12. I think I went through all the right steps, using rescue mode and ending up with Core on firmware 1.1.0.0:

In the log I saw a complaint about firmware mismatch with /start.bin on the SD card, so I rebuilt Branch Manager and wrote it to start-up on SD. Now, when I power up, I get this screen and nothing changes when I try turning the encoder, pots or pressing buttons:

When connected in Live mode, I can compile and run Branch Manager and it functions correctly, loading patches saved on the SD card (currently only one, from trying to repair this) and I can exit back to it. From boot though, no luck.

I’ve also tried uploading the Branch Manager patch to the SD card as a normal patch and moving the .bin file to start.bin, but still no luck.

I’ve reformatted two different SD cards through Windows and through the util patch, just in case that would make a difference. Obviously not, given this post!

So… help?!

Nice one. For what it’s worth, I seem to be having the same issue loading the Branch manager from SD Startup. Though I have pretty lines. Not that your white noise is not pretty.

The interesting part is when I eject the card then insert it again, the startup patch (= Branch Manager) is loaded correctly.

Which reminds me, did you first set the ‘branch controller’ in preferences THEN upload the branch manager as SD startup (so that the MANAGER has the CONTROLLER in their pocket)? I forgot if that’s important, but my own instructions say to first set the preferences, so I am going to believe myself on this.

Edit: I believe a certain call during the sd card mounting simply needed more time. That, and one dubious call to unmount-remount the sd card may not be playing with the Mounter changes in 1.1.0.

Could you do a File->Sync Libraries and check again?

Success! Thank you!

And yep, did the controller in preferences first. I’m not going to pretend I understand how the preferences work so I’m just following the instructions…

Funny, this same thing happened to me on on one of my axolotis a couple weeks ago but only when loading while disconnected to the patch. I put the branch manager as startup on flash and it has been working, but good to know there is a fix!
