Open two instances of the OG Axoloti software at the same time? (I forgot how, after years of not using it)

Hey

New to the forum, but have been an Axoloti user since the crowdfunding campaign around 11 years ago. I haven’t used it for a few years and forgot how to do some stuff. I hope it’s okay to ask a question about the old Axoloti here, I don’t really know where else to go.

Anyway, my question is:

Does anyone remember how you open 2 instances of the Axoloti software at the same time?

so I can connect both of my OG Axoloti’s to my Mac and access the editor for both at the same time?

I remember it’s something I have to do via Terminal, but I don’t remember the specifics.

Thanks in advance and I am glad to see this platform is being kept well and alive

Hi, you’re right, a new instance should open when you type

open -n -a "Axoloti"

(or open -n -a “Axoloti.app” ?)

in the terminal.

IIRC on newer Macs it should be possible to shift-click (or command-click) on the app in the docker and click “Open” to get a new Patcher instance.

Thanks

open -n -a /Applications/Axoloti.app

Worked…

Does that trick also work with Ksoloti?

I think I need to get a Ksoloti too soon, to keep up to date. Though I really am not fond of soldering, I am always afraid of breaking stuff…

But I guess there is no way around it, if I want to use it, I guess it’s the only way to get audio out of it, right?

EDIT:
The open a second Axoloti trick also works for Ksoloti, I just downloaded the Ksoloti editor and tested it. Great

Yes it does. Does the right-click “Open” from the dock work? I believe that’s how I was doing it with the Ksoloti Patcher.

I guess there is no way around it, unless you buy second hand or ask a builder ( Trusted Builders - Ksoloti Discourse Group ) to put something together for you. Or switch to the USBAudio firmware mode and only do USB audio from/to your computer hahah

There is USBAudio on Ksoloti?

That is really cool.

I can actually probably do with just that to start with.

Just another reason I want one…

About the open second patcher, it doesn’t seem to work for me here, I have an M1 Macbook. But it’s okay, I can manage with the oldschool way
